This Week in Classical Music
September 16th, 2008 | Published in music
This week in my classical music experiment I listened to Dmitri Shostakovich’s Symphony no. 13.

We chose the disc based on it’s cover design and the fact that we had heard of Shostakovich. I’m sure that’s not the best way to choose something, but there were a lot of CDs and we were in a hurry. Anyway, I really wanted to like this piece, but I just couldn’t get into it. I don’t know if it was the subject matter or my mood when listening to it, but it put me to sleep. I’m guessing that if you are a sophisticated music lover you most likely enjoy this piece. Alas, I am not sophisticated so I’ll give it a pass.
